AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE 2022 CHEER SEASON WILL BE COMING SOON!
Trumbull Pop Warner Cheer Program has been a staple in the Trumbull community for many years. The cheerleader’s range in age from 7-14 years old. Our program focuses on helping the cheerleaders learn the basics fundamentals of cheer - motions, tumbling, stunting along with sideline cheers, half-time routines and competition routines. We also are helping get our cheerleaders ready for the Trumbull High School cheer program. The cheerleaders put in a lot of work which is rewarded by the lasting friendships that are made and the teamwork they display.
Our coaches are certified by YCADA (Youth Cheer and Dance Alliance) and all coaches from every competitive roster attend the New England Coaches Clinic held once a year throughout New England. We also ensure that each team roster has a coach certified in CPR training.
All practices for the month of August are held at the back of Madison Middle School on Madison Avenue in Trumbull. We practice 8 hours a week from August 2nd until Labor Day. Practices are held between 6-8pm and are outdoors Monday through Thursday. Practices are only cancelled if temperatures are extremely hot or a storm is in the forecast - we do practice in light rain. These practice focus on conditioning to build muscle memory and learning basic stunting techniques and learning our half-time and competition routines.
Once school starts and we begin our sideline cheering at the football games, our practice time is reduced to 6-8 hours per week (weeks run Monday-Sunday per National Pop Warner Regulations) depending on number of scheduled competition entries and are usually 1.5-2 hours in the evenings and Saturday mornings. Starting in September our practice locations are split between Indian Ledge Park – Teen Center – in Trumbull and Just Tumble located in Shelton, CT. Each practice includes a warm-up and stretching period, brief team meeting, followed by jumps, stunting and tumbling on mats. Once our half-time routine is learned our practices focus on our Competition routines. We cheer at all games away and home for our football teams. Competitions and games are mandatory.
We have two local competitions that take places at the Floyd Little Center in New Haven. There is a regional competition that takes place in Mass that take place in November. Not all teams attend the regional competition it will depend on your placement at the local competitions.
